The event features dynamic long term care expert Wendy Lustbader, MSW, who will engage the audience in discussions about person-centered approaches to enhance the quality of life for vulnerable adults. Attendees will leave with a host of strategies for encouraging vulnerable adults to make self-protective choices for the sake of their health, safety, and well-being.

Hoarders and Clutterers: How You Can Help
This session will dive into the ethical challenges of caring for individuals with hoarding and cluttering tendencies including:
- How to handle a hoarder’s right of self-determination and your own duty to protect the person
- Identification of the difference between hoarders, accumulators, and collectors
- Explaination of the psychological origins of each kind of clutterer and how to tailor interventions that fit each origin
- Methods of intervention tailored to the differing needs of the individual and information about which interventions may fail and why
- How to use partnerships with other community service providers for persistent situations to make small changes for the sake of health and safety

In this session, the presenter will discuss the challenges regarding difficult family situations including:

- Interventions which help limit the harm caused by abusive adult children
- The ways in which aging and frailty compound the destructive entwinement
