2020 has presented us all with new challenges, many of which will likely continue into the foreseeable future. As we proceed into the holidays, activity professionals are looking to connect with each other for new ideas and to engage with other like-minded professionals. This session is full of great information, including the opportunity for you to network, share ideas, ask questions, and connect with other life enrichment and activities long term care professionals. Attend this virtual conference to get new ideas and reenergize your commitment to enhancing the lives of seniors in your community!

Program Sessions
Creative Engagement for People with Dementia
This presentation will focus on ways life enrichment professionals can help residents with dementia explore imagination to enhance their lives. Attendees will learn how to invite joy into the lives of residents using Timeslips™ creative communication techniques: “Yes, and,” “Beautiful Questions,” and creative storytelling. With this approach, you can use words, images, and art to facilitate creative experiences with your residents that will stimulate conversation, encourage creativity, and invite meaningful moments of connection throughout the day. This session is presented by a representative from the Washington County Disability, Aging and Veteran Services, a Timeslips™ certified Creative Community of Care.

Activity Overhaul: Activities in the COVID World
Activity programs have been greatly impacted by the onset of COVID-19 and the restriction of visitors and family visits. Adjustments to activity programs have been made, but it is quite overwhelming to do it on your own. This session will focus on successful activity programming during this difficult time and highlight some of the new challenges presented during this time and how to address them with success. Participants will develop an understanding of how to address the needs of high cognitively functioning residents who previously were very self-directed and develop a skill set to assess their current program and identify updates that are needed. .

Preparing for the Holidays During COVID-19
COVID-19 will completely change the way communities have celebrated holidays. In this session, a panel of life enrichment professionals will discuss the complications that have arisen from COVID-19 regulations and safety measures in the activity department. The panel will also discuss their preparations, ideas, and innovative ways of celebrating the holidays. The discussion will include ways to enhance connection and engagement for residents, and how to include families in the preparation and celebrations.

Share the Knowledge! Idea Sharing and Roundtable Discussions
In this session, all participants will have the opportunity to share their successes and challenges with their current activity calendars. Participants are encouraged to share their ideas for activities and learn how to enhance their current activities and to find inspiration for new ones.
