During this webinar, OHCA’s General Counsel, Eugenia Liu, will review the best practices and legal do’s and don’ts for managing resident move-outs and transitions of care.

Sooner or later, despite a communities’ best efforts to avoid it, the involuntary discharge of a resident will become necessary. Whether the discharge is necessary because the community can’t meet the level of services the resident requires, the resident engages in behaviors that substantially interfere with the rights of other residents, the resident’s conduct poses an immediate health or safety risk to people at the community, or the resident fails to pay for charges, an involuntary discharge can be complex and uncertain. This presentation will discuss the involuntary move-out process, including managing expectations through communication and documentation, when and how to issue the notices, and the hearing process.
