OHCA offers an energetic and well-balanced educational program to appeal to a diverse audience at all OHCA education and events. Speakers Will be Chosen Based Upon the Following Criteria:

  • Quality, timeliness and value of content
  • Relevance to the needs of long-term care and community-based care professionals
  • Presenters familiar with and experienced in long-term care and community-based care
  • Cost; in an effort to keep registration fees at a minimum for our attendees, OHCA operates on a limited education budget. Therefore speakers who do not require speaker fees will be given top priority. Speakers who waive their fee will be given a complimentary registration into the event they speak at and will gain visibility and credibility as a leader in the profession by being a showcased presenter.

Suggestions for Topics:

  • Workforce (recruitment, retention)
  • Leadership development
  • Alzheimer’s and dementia care
  • Regulatory compliance and survey preparedness
  • Strategic thinking and innovations
  • Quality improvement programs and projects
  • Mental health and care practices
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Life enrichment and enhancing quality of life
  • Subject matter which meet the domains of knowledge for nursing facility and assisted living/residential care administrator licensure as outlined in OAR 853-050-0000

Submission Deadlines:

Submissions will be accepted on an ongoing basis. OHCA reviews submissions periodically and will contact those presenters who have been selected for presentation. For larger events, submissions must be received by the following dates to be considered:

  • Spring Expo (held April 11-12):  November 12, 2023
  • Annual Convention (held September 17-18):  April 30, 2024

Submission Guidelines:

  • Sessions are to be educational in nature and presenters may NOT use a session as an opportunity to spotlight a company, product, or service.
  • Submitting a proposal does not guarantee that your presentation will be selected. OHCA reserves the right to make final presentation selections and edit abstracts.
  • Speakers will be chosen based upon quality, timeliness of content, value of content, and relevance to the needs of OHCA members.
  • Presenters who offer to waive the honorarium or speaking fees will be given top priority.
